A Helping Hand

Adopting or donating to a family in need during the holiday season can be a great way to bring a family closer together.

With the economic crisis, many parents are unable to provide food, necessities and even toys for their children. Here are
ways to help get your children involved in helping those in need:

  •  Discuss the importance of helping others who are in need.
  •  Children need to know that not everyone is as fortunate as they are. Educate your kids about children who may not eat
three times a day, or even have access to necessities such as toilet paper or soap. Your child should understand that if they
were in a similar situation, other people would help. Therefore, donating some toys or adopting a family can go a long way
  •  Make a list of items to donate.
  •  Make sure your children know the difference between needs and wants. In order to help a family in need, you want to
provide them with necessities, but also include a fun toy, books or games to make the holidays a special time for them.

Donate toys to help less fortunate children experience the joy of the holidays. The Toys for Tots program collects new, unwrapped toys to distribute to children within the community in order to send a message of hope to youngsters in need.
