MASK’s Need-to-Know Tips

MASK’s Need-to-Know Tips

Keeping up to date on the trending issues children are facing today. Read these tips to stay aware and keep the conversation going around these topics.

Drug

Drugs don’t just exist in the hidden parts of the Internet. Buying and selling drugs and drug paraphernalia can be easily accomplished through platforms like Kik and Instagram, using hashtags and direct messages. Monitoring your child’s social media use, in addition to talking to them about the dangers of drugs and online threats, is the most important step in stopping a problem before it starts.

Bully

Allowing your child to have access to social media is a choice. If you do let them, there are precautions you can take to make sure their online use is healthy and bully-free. Instagram allows users to block others, censor negative comments, and make a profile private from those who do not follow them. Social media should be for positive interaction, and these steps help ensure that.

Tech

As school gets more demanding, staying organized is essential to your child’s success. Apps like The Homework App and Class Timetable allow students to keep track of their class schedules and homework. After class/school is over, they can enter their assignments and due dates, making forgetting homework a thing of the past.

Safety

Often, the online can world can feel bad and dangerous. There is, actually, a lot of room for good. Apps such as Kaspersky SafeKids and TrueMotion Family Safe Driving allow you to see your child’s location, restrict their access online, and monitor their driving habits—giving you peace of mind about their safety and security, online and in the real world.
